Lone Ranger Enters 21st Century

I was awakened at noon today, about three hours after I'd gone to sleep, and informed that I'd forgotten to submit this month's rent check. Doh! So, I got dressed, wrote a check and carried it downstairs. It was the first time I'd ever been late with the rent. Just forgot. I also overlooked a Visa bill and had to pay a penalty on that. So, I decided to do what I've been putting off for years and set up an on-line bill paying account. The State Department credit union will either send a payment electronically to a payee, or mail them a check if they aren't set up to do online transactions. And they pay for the stamp, not I. It's great! I also won an auction on e-bay for a double holster. My Lone Ranger costume is slowly coming together. And I got to see my new apartment this morning. They were still putting in the carpeting and other things, but I got to see what it would look like. The apartment is exactly the size and configuration of the one I'm in now, but they have remodeled it. One of the things they did was fit half the kitchen with more cupboard and counter space. So, the floorspace is smaller, but I have gobs of storage and work space. That's going to be GREAT! It also has an over-stove microwave, so I can get rid of mine and it won't use up shelf space. I move in the first weekend in Feb. Oh, and this apartment has a balcony. The cats should love that. It's on the sixth floor, so I hope they don't jump off trying to catch a bird.

When I lived in St. Petersburg, in the last century, I had a black cat that I got from Stella Kerouac that was a descendent of Jack's cats. This little guy knew the sound of my Impala's motor and would run to meet me when I got home from work, just like a dog. We lived in a Spanish style apartment building on the second floor with an open balcony like at a motel. This cat would jump down to the garden below with no harmful effects... but I wouldn't recommend it for SIX stories!! Go Gators!
