Atheists -- Not Too Bright

It seems that atheists are tired of being silent. Pfft, when have atheists ever been silent? They are "coming out of the closet," complete with the highjacking of the English language that accompanied the "gay" rights movement. Here's an activist who wants to call atheists "brights."

In July, 2003, I wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Times entitled "The Bright Stuff", where I drew attention to a budding movement among atheists intent on copying an idea from the homosexuals' excellent campaign: the hijacking of a perfectly good word with an established meaning, gay, and putting it to use with a new meaning, as a consciousness-raiser. The term "bright" was chosen by two brights in Sacramento -- Paul Geisert and Mynga Futrell -- who thought we freethinkers (atheists, agnostics, et al -- needed a fresh name. In the aftermath of my op-ed piece, I've read quite a few articles and thousands of messages about the term "bright."

Actually, "bright" might be a more than suitable name for atheists, because it describes the light they'll put off when they're burning in hell. Up next: Pedophiles call themselves "sparkles."

Now "bright"? Athiests who believe there is no supreme being, and who think the cosmos just banged itself into existence are not too bright in my book. There are plenty of Mensa-material individuals out there who are believers, so "bright" is more appropriate for them than for atheists.; 8:26 PM

I don't use talking points, I create them.

25 Immutable Truths About Liberals

Over the years I've been writing this blog, I've been throwing out little self-evident truths that seem to have no exceptions that prove the rule. I've made a list of some of them and will add to it as I remember them or make up more. Most of this list I've come up with myself. A few I've borrowed from others.
