This Day in Republican History 11/05/06

November 5, 1872 Republican Susan B. Anthony breaks the law by voting in presidential election

She was arrested days later and fined, but her act drew great attention to the cause of women's rights. She served as president of the National Women's Suffrage Association and wrote many articles on civil rights in America. Once again, it was a Republican who led America down the path of civil rights. November 5, 2002 Michael Steele, former Chairman of Maryland Republican Party, elected as first African-American Lt. Governor in state history Another first for the Republicans. Where were the Democrats? Oh yes, the Democrats were slinging Oreo cookies at Mr. Steele. It seems that if you are a black American and you don't think like a Democrat, talk like a Democrat, and most importantly, vote like a Democrat, you are fair game for racist attacks.
