I saw this comment in Newsbusters.org under a story I can't recall but I impressed to find out that most Democrats get their political education from TV soundbites...read below.
But here’s why I am a Democrat: “Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. What did Conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things – every one. So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, ‘Liberal,’ as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won’t work, Senator, because I will pick up that label and I will wear it as a badge of honor.” — Matt Santos, The West Wing

I can't believe that people can be that ignorant of their own country's history.
I always found that show unwatchable, because it always had a ridiculous tendency to claim every good thing about America for Liberals and Democrats, and to asign blame for every injustice and atrocity to Republicans and Conservatives, regardless of where the credit or blame actually belonged.
And no one has been teaching Americans the actual facts, so a lot of people bought into the lies.
I have seen that quote used on several Liberal Blogs.
I've never seen it. But all we need to do to arrive at the truth is substitute "Republicans"
for "lberals" and "Democrats" for "conservatives."
Democrats really have convinced themselves that on one mystical, magical day in the mid-60s, all the people in both parties suddenly switched sides. Democrats became the good guys and Republicans became the bad guys. It's more than ridiculous, it's delusional.
Blogger buddy ER, who is himself a Liberal Democrat, posted that same quote over at my place, in the comments section. I was astonished that he would not only use a quote from a Liberal Television show, which is ficticious to begin with, but that the entire quote is a lie.
All of those things were accomplished by the Republican party, which i happily pointed out to him.
I might have to stroll on over there and see if I can get in a few licks too.
You what Mark I thought it was Newsbusters, but it may have been your site then instead i saw this quote...I have seen it a couple of places. I just oculdn't remember where.
