This is probably the most diverse place outside of the UN. Just walking from the front door to the newsroom, I hear conversations in at least five different languages. We have 52 language services and usually employ broadcasters from the countries in which the languages are spoken.
So, coming in tonight, I saw something I'd never seen before -- a Muslim woman smoking. I don't know why I thought that wasn't allowed, maybe because I'd never seen it before. I know that when away from their homelands, Muslims do decidedly un-Muslim things. I used to instruct at an air base where Iranian pilots were trained. They partied with the best of them. There was something called the "Iranian Swoop," which described their reaction when a single (alone) woman walked into a bar.
So, I went looking and stumbled across -- of all things -- an Arab dating site. Who'da thunk it?

She forgot to mention someone who doesn't beat his wife. There was another ad there that actually did. Oh, and notice that she's been in this country for 21 years and still doesn't have her english down. So much for assimilation.
