Don't Get Stuck On Stupid

With mid-term elections about three weeks away, I'm hearing more and more people saying some pretty screwy things. People are actually buying into the "culture of corruption" propaganda that the Democrats are spreading. They want to make changes. They want to take the country in a "new direction." They think that by voting for Democrats, they'll be able to do that. Oh, yeah. The Democrats will turn this country in a new direction -- they'll fly it straight into the ground. Bush's tax cuts have raised this country to a new height of prosperity. The Dow hits new highs just about every day. Unemployment is below five percent. That means, 95% of Americans who want a job can get one. The deficit has been cut in half long before the administration predicted it would be. So, what will the Democrats do? They will immediately raise taxes, effectively throwing a monkey wrench into the gears. When someone asked Charlie Rangel, who would chair the House tax-writing committee if the Pelosi Democrats take over the House, whether the Democrats will try to raise taxes across the board, he replied: "No question about it." They have already vowed that if they win Congress, they will immediately launch investigations and impeachment proceedings against the Bush administration. They will defund the military, making it impossible for us to win on the battlefield -- something we always do when politicians let the military do their job. As for the war in Iraq, Bush is doing the right thing, although he may not be doing it the right way. Does anyone think any of these whining liberals could do any better? They will run for the high grass and ignore the devastation that follows in their wake, just as they did in Somalia. And then we'll have to fight the "insurgents" on OUR soil. As appealing as the thought of Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton in a burka might be, I don't want to give up my hamhocks. These are far too dangerous times to switch power on a whim. Evangelicals don't like to vote for evil, but this is one time they have to swallow their standards and vote for the lesser evil. Some people just want to wash their hands of politics and stay home on election day. Whatever your reason for not voting or for voting for a democrat, think of the alternative. Envision Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and that creepy old guy Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader. Republicans are a disappointment, but Democrats are dangerous.
