Things Are Coming Together

OK, I took the cats to the kitty hotel this morning. They meowed louder than I've ever heard them before. By the time we got there, Ginger was just able to squeak. Her meower was all worn out. If cats can think, I hate to imagine what they're thinking now, or what they'll be thinking for the next 10 days. That place was out in the middle of nowhere. I never would have found it without my Garmin GPS. Looks like a good place to meet women though. It's staffed entirely by single females.....(heh, nuns). Ah, but while I was there, I saw a steady stream of ladies picking up and dropping off dogs. And there I stood -- the cat guy in the cowboy boots. Next, I did a bunch of pre-trip things, like the laundry, putting out the trash, filling the automatic fish feeder, doing the dishes, etc. Still haven't packed though. I guess I'll spend the rest of the evening stacking things in my staging area. I'm giving my dehydrator to my sister. I'm going out of the beef jerky business. And, I GOT MY CAR! About 4 pm, the phone rang and "Dave" said I could have my car if I could get there by five. So I pulled a pair of WET PANTS out of the dryer and dashed for the door. You are not a man if you've never worn wet jeans. They told me that fixing and cleaning the water out of the trunk wouldn't cost me anything. But I still had a $275 car rental bill. I just found out that my XM radio isn't working properly. I just called Manila, or wherever their customer service is, and they said they'd work on it. So, now I have to run downstairs in an hour and see if it's picking up more than the demo channel. It is very strange not having cats in the place. It's the first time since November that there has not been another mammal in my apartment. I don't have to look where I'm walking, I don't have to worry about a flying cat tipping over my beer glass (filled with Coke Zero), I don't have to field complaints about the litter box, I don't have to worry about closing the door when I use the bathroom. It's like being single again. Why did I give that up?

Have a nice trip! We'll miss you! BTW, why don't you want the cats watching you while you're in the bathroom? Do they squeeze the toothpaste tube wrong? ;)
