Manfood

Betty Crocker has come out with a new manfood -- Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles. It's manfood because it's easy to make, tasty, and probably not all that nutritious. Also, the box gives directions for making double servings. I just tried the stroganoff flavor, which is one of my favorites. If the idea of eating dehydrated hamburger doesn't bother you, this stuff is pretty good. Stay away from microave Rice-A-Roni (gak).

I've never had microwave Rice-A-Roni but I know Hot Pockets are bad news. Even if you enjoy them going down, later they will do you wrong.

Oh, so wrong.

I haven't had a Hot Pocket in more than 10 years, although I'm curious about the new ones that supposedly have the taste and texture of baked bread.

Although I'm a pretty good cook, I confess that a lot of these convenience foods are childhood comfort foods for me. I especially like La Choy chicken chow mein. It's slop, I know, but I can't stay away from it. I do add extra chicken and some Vietnamese hot sauce though.
