DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) -- Syrian President Bashar Assad said Tuesday that America's plan for a "new Middle East" has collapsed after Hezbollah's successes in fighting against Israel. Assad, speaking to a journalists' association, said the region had changed "because of the achievements of the resistance (Hezbollah)." "The Middle East they (the Americans) aspire to ... has become an illusion," he said.Who but the most naive people (liberals) can doubt now that if we pull out of Iraq, terrorists will declare victory and our credibility throughout the world will be dashed?
