A former schoolteacher was arrested Wednesday in Thailand in the slaying of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey _ a surprise breakthrough in a lurid, decade-old murder mystery that had cast a cloud of suspicion over her own parents.
Federal officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, identified the suspect as John Mark Karr, a 42-year-old American, and one law enforcement official told The Associated Press that Boulder police had tracked him down online.
Looks like they finally got their guy. Patsy Ramsey went to her grave under a cloud of suspicion. Let the lawsuits begin.
It's significant this guy was arrested in Thailand, because that is a major tourist destination for pedophiles. This guy was arrested on unrelated sex charges. I'm guessing he confessed because facing the death sentence in Colorado seemed more appealing than facing a few years in a Thai prison. They don't allow their felons to play games like we do here. There's one other scenario. He could have confessed to a crime he didn't commit just to get out of Thailand.

I remember telling my wife years ago that if the family wasn't involved in the crime then a great injustice has been done. If this suspect did in fact commit the crime, there are a bunch of pin-head 'experts' and media types that own the Ramsey family an apology. I'll bet, however, that no one who blamed the family will step forward and try to make things right. A tragic waste, may Jon and Patsy rest in peace.
