SHUT UP!

Driving while chatting on a "hands-free" cellular phone is just as dangerous as driving while holding a mobile phone according to a study conducted by the University of Utah.

Talking while driving -- even using a hands-free kit -- makes motorists four times more likely to have an accident, according to David Strayer, a University of Utah psychology professor who led the study, which tracked drivers' brain activity.

Well, if chatting on a hands-free phone is dangerous, then it logically follows that chatting with another passenger is just as dangerous. So, there's only one thing to do. All conversation inside a vehicle must be outlawed. Of course, the only way to enforce that would be to ban more than one person from being in a vehicle. That means the end of carpooling. I've always thought carpooling was dangerous anyway, since the more people there are in a car, the more will be injured or killed in case of an accident.

Every person in the country must have their own car. Kids? Hitchhikers? Friends? Put them in a special passenger trailer.

If we're going to live in a nanny state, it should be an all-encompassing nanny state.
