Nobody Knows De Trubble I Seen

So, after getting back my beloved car about 10 days ago, I'm taking it back when I get off work this morning. It seems that after keeping it for six weeks to replace my slashed top and clean out my flooded trunk, they never got around to cleaning out my flooded trunk. Imagine my surprise last Friday, when I opened my trunk and removed a large sheet of plastic I'd used to cover the car, to discover that there was still an inch of standing water in there and a distinctive smell of mildew. I should have checked the trunk when I picked up the car, but whoda thunk? The poor guy I showed the car to Monday was just about genuflecting when he promised to get the job done by Friday. Although he was larger than I, I believe he thought I was going to do him bodily harm. I don't know why. Compared to what I experienced in my military career, this is small potatoes. I was perfectly calm and didn't raise my voice or threaten anyone. Maybe it was my eyes. I'd planned to hit the road next week to visit my old haunts and old friends in ND, MN and family in WI, but I'm going to have to put it off for a week. And I might have to skip the trips to ND and MN. But I'm still going to Green Bay to lay flowers on my mom's grave on her birthday. I guess I'll use the time to clean my apartment, make beef jerky and find a good place to board my cats.
