I'm Not Sure I Like This

OK, so for several years, I've been giving money to a Catholic Indian school in South Dakota. I don't know why. In return, they send me little pins and key chains -- usually of dreamcatchers -- that I pin on my varsity jacket. I must have about 25 of them now. It's like the purchase of Manhattan in reverse. When I had my taxes done, I saw I'd given only $120 to this school last year. I felt like Algore. So, I promised to make up for it this year and when I got one of their solicitations last month, I wrote a check for $500. The solicitations have boxes to check for $5, $10, $25, other. I usually choose "other" and send $50 or $100. So, I got another solicitation last week along with a marshall's badge key chain with my initial on it. And the choices were: $500, $1,000, other. What have I gotten myself into?

No good deed goes unpunished.
