Danger, Will Robinson! Do Not Chill Watermelon!

Watermelons stored at room temperature offer more nutrients than refrigerated or freshly picked melons. They found that watermelon stored at 70 F had up to 40% more lycopene and 50% to 139% more carotene than freshly picked fruit. The researchers said their findings showed that watermelons continue to produce nutrients after they are picked and that chilling slows this process.
Yeah, I know. Watermelon is a berry, not a fruit. So, take this article with a grain of salt. Mmmm salt and watermelon.....

My watermelon vines didn't make it this year but my pumpkins are on track. They are golf ball size. Are pumpkins really big peas?

Pumpkins are fruit. Peas are legumes.
