Vongo

I just watched an episode of The Green Hornet. On DVD, the series of 26 episodes costs about $60. If you have a broadband connection and 10 bucks a month, you can view all 26 episodes plus all the movies you can download on Vongo. I downloaded one episode this afternoon and have another 25 to go. The video is a wee bit jerky, but I'm going to transfer it to my Archos jukebox and see if it clears up that problem. It will also allow me to watch it on my TV. This may be a bit premature, but so far, I like the service.

Hey, pick up your Trumpet and try playing along with that Theme Song...

That Trumpet Player is a MONSTER!

I love the fact that the Green Hornet is a Super Hero, but has a Chauffeur.

How cool is THAT?

Al Hirt, probably the greatest of the New Orleans trumpet players. I have the theme on my desktop so I can play it whenever I need a lift.

When you think about it, Batman was Robin's chauffeur.

Yeah, but I don't really think of Robin as a Super Hero...

It always seemed more like Batman was Robin's baby-sitter...

The Green Hornet Theme song was almost "The Flight Of The Bumblebee" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, but not quite.

I never knew that Al Hirt played the theme for the Green Hornet until right now.

Thanks for the info!

Where did you find that clip? I would love to have it myself...

You can find a good instrumental version here.
The TV theme is here.
And speaking of Batman, take a look at these Batmobiles.

This conversation just brought up a memory. When we lived in the Azores, I bought a souped up VW bug with wide tires. That thing could have climbed up a wall if it could get the traction. I painted it to look like a batmobile, with the face in the front and the fin in the back. My boys were the most popular kids in school. Wife didn't particularly care for it, though -- especially when I'd yell, "To the Batmobile!".....after church.
