I commented in January on what would happen if Palestinians got their own homeland.
Hundreds of Palestinian security men loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas went on a rampage against the Hamas-led government Monday, riddling the parliament building and Cabinet offices with bullets before setting them ablaze in retaliation for an attack by Hamas gunmen in the Gaza Strip.
The violence was the most serious in the West Bank since Hamas defeated Abbas' Fatah movement in legislative elections in January and raised new fears the Palestinians could be headed toward civil war. It also cast doubt on renewed calls for Palestinian unity by the rival factions.
Here's more:
JERUSALEM, June 13 (Reuters) - The Palestinian territories are in a state of near civil war and just one act of violence, such as a high-profile assassination, could trigger total mayhem, an international think tank said on Tuesday.
The International Crisis Group also said President Mahmoud Abbas's determination to hold a referendum on July 26 on a statehood proposal that implicitly recognises Israel risked igniting more fighting with the ruling Hamas militant group.

Ahhh, dontcha just love the smell of cordite in the palestinian parliament? Actually, in the dogfight between the Purebred Palestinian Junkyard Scavenger and the Purebred Palestinian Sewer Rathound (looks juuuust like a chihuahua crossed with Yasser Arafat--doesn't hunt sewer rats, runs with them), I hope they both lose.
