An Ethical Dilemma

So, I was at Andrews AFB today and found a military exchange AT&T prepaid calling card on the sidewalk near a pay phone. There's no way to return one of these things to the owner. I would have felt guilty using it myself. Whenever I find money, I donate it to one of my charities. This is like found money. What to do? What to do? AHA! I'm going to recharge it to the full 200 units (don't know how much is on it now) and send it to someone in Iraq. If you'd like to do something tangible for our troops in the war zone, you can find out how here.

Thanks for telling me about that. I always to do something. When I was in Rome with my baby in the hospital for 3 months I would never have been able to call all of my friends and family and be in touch like I was if it was not for "skype" the computer software and headset you can buy anywhere for $10 that let's you call anywhere for free through your computer with DSL. My sister in law sent that to me and saved me. I would not have made it without that and could not have afforded to talk on my cell phone at a $1.00 a minute.

I know just what it means to be able to call home when you are so far away.

What a great thing to do...thanks.

When I was in the military, the only free way to call home was by Mars. It was a network of amateur short wave operators who would relay calls from overseas. It usually meant sitting on a cement floor in the command center nearly all night, waiting for my turn for a three-minute call. And I'd have to say "over" at the end of each sentence. No privacy whatsoever.
