What Century Is This?

I did some editing on the following Reuters story to shorten it, and because it was so badly written that it was difficult to understand.

KARACHI, May 8 (Reuters) - An 11-year-old boy was strangled by another family who killed him rather than obey a tribal elders' order for them to marry one of their women to the child. The marriage had been ordered in compensation for the kidnapping of the boy's sister.

Mohammad Asif was killed on Sunday, five months after the killers abducted his 15-year-old sister. The children's widower father appealed to a tribal jirga, or council, for justice after his daughter was snatched. But after the jirga ordered the kidnappers to betroth one of their daughters to the boy, they began making threats, prompting Saeed Akbar to seek protection from the jirga. "But before that, they killed my innocent son in revenge," he said. A post-mortem showed the boy was strangled and his body burned afterwards. Three men, all brothers, and a woman are accused of murdering the child. They are still at large.

And the moral-relativist, multi-culturalists will tell you that all cultures have equal value.

Exactly, LR: "And the moral-relativist, multi-culturalists will tell you that all cultures have equal value."

Which certainly raises the question of their priorities and any direction toward which they may head.

There will never be a Mrs. Lone Ranger.

She's more like the daughter I've always wanted -- and the cutest Tonto you'd ever see.

We disagree on several things. She actually has liberal friends (shudder). But she has a good head on her shoulders and I look forward to seeing her posts -- and debating her on some of them.

She'll be posting when the mood moves her. We're still setting things up. You'll be hearing more soon.
