Habla Spanglish?

That creepy old guy Harry Reid, who serves as Senate minority leader, says requiring immigrants to speak English is racist. Isn't it incredible how the party of slavery and segregation always plays the race card when backed into a corner? You'd think they invented civil rights, when they actually fought rights for minorities (including women) every step of the way. The best way to keep a minority down (what the Democratic party has done since its inception) is to keep them out of the mainstream of society. And there's no better way to keep someone out of the mainstream than to make sure he doesn't speak the language of his adopted country. How far can someone go in this country if he does not speak the "native" language? Can he be a successful neurosurgeon? A corporate CEO? The President? To be even a successful stand-up comedian, his audience has to understand what he's saying. English skills are also essential to our national security. What kind of a military would we have if half our troops spoke other languages? The ability to speak English is a matter of life and death to our troops and to our country. One of the huge problems the Soviets had is that their army was made up of people from across the vast Soviet Union, who spoke different languages and had different customs. Other than their nuclear capability, the Soviet Union was never a military threat to us. It's why we did in 10 weeks what they couldn't do in 10 years in Afghanistan. My first language was German. Growing up in a little house on the prairie of North Dakota, that's what the family spoke in the home. But when I started school, I was forbidden from speaking German outside the house. I was an American and I was supposed to act and talk like one. Now, the only German I know is the names of foods. No loss to me. I don't feel I've betrayed my ancestors or my heritage. I'm an American, not a something-or-other-hyphenated-American. That's called assimilation. It is what is keeping our country the greatest in the world.

THANK-YOU THANK-YOU THANK-YOU !!!
I've never been a prejudice person.BUT I feel we Americans are being forced into it.I am sick & tired of hearing how we may insult new comers to this country.TO DARN BAD! If you don't like the way we are,DON'T come here!
I really thought ENGLISH was our national language.I for one do not wish to be in a critical situation where my life saver could not understand life saving instructions.I work in the health care field.I know first hand how I AM the minority,as well as how dangerous the lack of good ENGLISH speaking skills can be.I've been saying for some time that certain jobs SHOULD & MUST have proper communication skills.
I would not want to lose a loved one due to the fact that the person relied upon HAD to be hired to fill the quota of minorities, but couldn't understand simple life saving instructions, when a more skilled American was passed over because he/she was from this country.
LET THE POLITICIANS BE POLITICALLY CORRECT,AND LET THE REST OF US BE PROUD AMERICANS AGAIN !!!!!
