Are we talking about the same place?

I just found this article on another blog about the Iranian parliament. They are going to vote soon on whether to pass a law requiring all non-muslims to wear distinctive clothing. From what I know, non-muslims are not served/allowed in certain places as it is now. Under the new law Jews would be forced to wear a yellow strip of cloth. Christians would be required to wear a red strip of cloth sewn to their clothes and Zoroastrians blue. Nice place... What I find confusing is right now there is a group of peace activists touring Iran right now. and one of the members...her name is Melissa Van...is keeping a blog about her travels and how we have it all wrong about the country. In fact, she says she feels quite "free" there although she feels conflicted about the role of women, but she thinks that really our two countries are the same. The government has welcomed the group there with open arms...I'm sure...and showed them all a good time. But if you read the first article and then her blog you wonder if it is the same country. What is a non-muslim to think? Update: Looks like the idea was suggested but not passed.

Remember how the Lone Ranger would send Tonto into town, where he would invariably get beaten up?

Well, my Tonto goes where I dare not -- liberal web sites.

Oh yeah, this will work.

What do you have against Georgina?

What did she ever do to you?

Georgina is a "moderate." I'm sure we'll get into that later.

Red strip of cloth, eh? Every American who goes to Iran should dress as Superman.

Looking at my first post, it sounds sarcastic. I really meant it whan I said , "Oh yeah, this will work." One thing this blog has been missing is the viewpoint of the more radical left. Georgina has a stronger stomach than I have and can read and comment on that stuff. I don't even read most newspapers.

Don't worry a little sarcasm doesn't scare me away and helps me build character...anyway the real use of the liberal site is more for fodder...to expose what doesn't make sense.

Yes peace is a good thing but if I have to defend a Fascist country to make that point...what good is peace when you are not free?
