It's A Grand Old Flag

We got this e-mail at work today.
On Monday, April 10, 2006, from 09:00am until 4:00pm there will be a
scheduled demonstration on the Washington Monument grounds. Multiple
groups will be protesting the immigration reform bills being debated in
Congress. US Park Police and event organizers are predicting crowds
exceeding 100,000 with anticipated disruption to commuters in the
morning and afternoon rush hours and on Metro. There are no announced
street closures at this time, however streets surrounding the National
Mall area could be significantly impacted prompting street closures as
crowds dictate.
I wonder what they'll be waving.
The backlash against Mexican flags in the street theater about illegal immigration has set off a run on the Stars and Stripes. Every demonstrator needs one, whether he really wants it or not. Some flag stores here have sold out of American flags.
I can't wait to see what kind of traffic I'll be facing.

With any luck, I won't even see it. I work near the Capitol and the Washington Monument is way down the Mall. And I get into the city at about 2:30. But they close down certain streets when those things happen, making it difficult to get to work. Today, it took me an hour to drive seven miles because of something taking place on the Mall.
