Cat Update

At the request of a young lady in California, I offer this update on my cats. My first cat, Ginger, is still not accepting the new cat, Guinevere. But we're making progress, measured in inches. Gwen can now walk within 18 inches of Ginger without getting hissed at. Yesterday, they almost touched noses passing each other in the kitchen. They will sleep on the same bed if I use my body as a firewall between them. Last week, I dreamed that they got into a fight and jerked awake and yelled, "hey!" Or maybe I just dreamed I yelled. But the result was the same. They each shot off the bed in opposite directions. Then there was more commotion when they met under the bed. Ginger jumped back on the bed and Gwen decided to spend the rest of the night on the couch. I got back to sleep about an hour later. I took Gwen to the vet for a checkup Wednesday and the doctor found some kind of mass in her throat. I'll have to take her back next week so they can sedate her and perform a closer exam. Seems Gwen tolerates blood being drawn, but draws the line at having a tongue depressor put under her tongue. That will cost about $650. The doc says it might just be a pocket filled with saliva. Never heard of that before, but I hope it isn't anything serious. The vet also shaved off some really bad mattes. Now she has a bald spot on each hip. Getting her into the pet carrier was like the old Warner Brothers cartoon of Porky Pig trying to give a cat a bath. Every time she gets into a pet carrier, her life radically changes. The End
