I'm Not Shocked

Everyone is calling the Hamas win in the Palestinian elections a "shock." I'm not shocked. I always expect the Palestinians in particular and Muslims in general to do exactly the wrong thing. So, how could I be surprised when they elect a terrorist organization to head their country? A culture/cult that remains mired in the 7th century, forever oppressed by the ravings of a long-dead madman, can never be expected to join the civilized world. All our efforts to bring democracy and civilization to the Muslim world are doomed to failure. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. As Albert Einstein once said, " The world is a dangerous place. Not because of the people who are evil; but because of the people who don't do anything about it.” That means you, Democrats.
