God Must be A Liberal

God must be a liberal. Last week, Pat Robertson had to apologize after saying that Sharon's stroke was vengenace from God for giving away part of Israel. The world reaction was frenetic. Monday, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin suggested that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and other storms were a sign that "God is mad at America" and at black communities, too, for tearing themselves apart with violence and political infighting.

"Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it's destroyed and put stress on this country," Nagin, who is black, said as he and other city leaders marked Martin Luther King Day.

"Surely he doesn't approve of us being in Iraq under false pretenses. But surely he is upset at black America also. We're not taking care of ourselves."

Nagin also promised that New Orleans will be a "chocolate" city again. Many of the city's black neighborhoods were heavily damaged by Katrina.
I'm waiting for Nagen to issue an apology. I'm waiting for the international outrage. And waiting, and waiting, and waiting...........

This is proof that the left doesn't care what Pat Robertson says. They tape everything he says, they clip everything he writes, in the hopes that they can catch him in a stumble and use him to further push their bigoted, anti-Christian agenda.

Since I'm overseas I just got a chance to see this on the news this afternoon.

I almost spit out my tea. Even the news anchor person was giggling but not seeming outraged.

This is will overlooked but it made me think of all the Liberals who constantly complain about our President's faith and his use of the word GOD from time to time.

I am curious as to how the black population will take this though. Bill Cosby was not met with alot of warmth after he made some statements telling the black people of America to start takin' care of business.

It should be interesting to see how this plays out.

since I am away from home I had not heard this. Thanks for pointing this out. You are right. It is stupid when Pat Robertson does it and it is Stupid when Ray Nagin does it, but the usual suspects the Conservative ones are the only ones that ever get called on for it.

The recent comments from Nagin, Hillary Clinton and Pat Robertson were all offensive, stupid and wrong. Nagin apologized on FoxNews today and I hope Clinton does soon.

Just have to point out that the right wingers have a legacy of racial intolerance as well:

By the way, before you get all excited, I'm NOT a Clinton supporter, criticized his economic/foreign policies a great deal while he was pres and have no interest in defending his record. What I'm concerned about is the present, and future with GWB as president.

What is the "right wingers'" legacy of racial intolerance? Was it as bad as slavery, segregation, lynching and welfare programs that tore black families apart? As for Hillary apologizing, when has that ever happened? She's the smartest woman in the world. She is infallable. The left isn't going to pressure her to apologize. And as far as she's concerned, the right is just demented and not worth a minute's consideration.

The Left hates Hillary, especially because of her pro-war rhetoric. She isn't nearly has well-liked by the Left as you may think. She is supported by the DLC, which the Left is trying to overthrow for control of the party.

Clinton's "plantation" remarks were stupid and she should apoloize. But there are plenty of conservatives who have made similiar asinine comments.

Maybe you don't like the National Review or Rush Limbaugh, but this type of rhetoric exists on your side of the political spectrum as well.

Would you at least give JFK, LBJ, RFK and MLK any credit for their work on civil rights?

You are comparing a U.S. Senator to pundits. They aren't in the same category. Pundits can say anything they want. Politicians are supposed to be more responsible. As for the left hating her, you are talking about the lunatic fringe, who will never realize that we are fighting an enemy that isn't interested in smoking dope and singing kumbaya. Reach out a hand to them and you'll pull back a bloody stump.

JFK PROMISED civil rights reforms but never delivered on his promises. Kennedy and LBJ protested President Eisenhower's deployment of troops to Little Rock, AR to force Democratic Governor Orval Faubus to integrate public schools. Although LBJ once voted against a national linch law, he did manage to push through the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but he couldn't have done it without Republican support. Among those who fought against it were Albert Gore Sr. and everybody's favorite little Ku Klux Klan Kleagle, Robert Byrd.

And where is MLK's legacy? He would be horrified to see the condition of blacks today. All black leaders of today do is divide and set color against color and enrich themselves, they don't unite. I realize what he was trying to do, but since his death, his words have just become platitudes, perverted by the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. I suggest you read my other blog, Stop the Republicans With that history, I could no more be a Democrat than I could be a Nazi.

Update: It's Wednesday morning and the NAACP and the Urban League have both DECLINED to comment on Hillary's plantation comments. No apology seen on the horizon.

What I've never understood about the Democrats is..on the one hand they claim to do so much good for minorities but on the other hand they're programs literally cripple people. Keeps them dependent on the system...makes them rely on the man.

In schools now instead of making children work hard, liberals only want to lower the standards.

Going to a area with a large black population and comparing their life to one of a plantation is so incrediblely stupid. In the 80's Jesse Jackson came to my school and spoke and that was in Georgia at a high school that was 75% black. At lunch that day the local police had to come on campus. Mr. Jackson caused a riot...a race riot.

That's not healing, that's not helping. Jesse Jackson made a whole bunch of excuses for his race and pointed the finger and he was on a plane in Atlanta I'm sure and he didn't witness the aftermath. He didn't have to clean up the mess he made on campus that day.

Why does ol' Pat make it so darn easy for the libs to catch him in a bad quote? He has to know he's being monitored. As far as Ray Nagin is concerned, he gives me the impression that he is more comfortable around black people than white people. That does not make him a racist but it does make the comment about a "chocolate" New Orleans easier to understand. I think he pines for the New Orleans before the hurricane and was doing a bit of day-dreaming. On the other hand if someone said they wanted a majority white New Orleans he would have hit the roof.

Fair enough. How about Strom Thurmond and Trent Lott? Bottom line is that both sides of the aisle have plenty to be embarassed about. I have the intellectual honesty to criticize Democrats when they say hurtful things. My question is: why are you willing to give Republicans a free pass?

Lone Ranger said...

You mean FORMER Senate Republican Leader Trent Lott? He apologized for what he said and he was still forced to resign his leadership position. What would you have him do, put a bullet in his brain? Republicans do not condone such remarks. Contrast that to Democratic Senator Robert Byrd, who used the term "white niggers" on Fox News. What punishment did he receive? (crickets chirping)

As for Strom Thurmond, yes he was a segregationist -- when he was a Democrat. The Democratic Party, after all, was the party of segregation. By the way, I've never heard a Democratic president apologize for that.

But in 1964, Thurmond switched his party affiliation. He played an important role in building Republican support in the South, which was overwhelmingly Democrat prior to the early 1960s. He campaigned on behalf of Richard Nixon to support the Republicans' Southern Strategy, undoubtedly bringing in Southern voters who otherwise would have voted for segregationist candidate George Wallace in the 1968 election.

I am not willing to give Republicans a free pass. But on their worst day, the Republican Party cannot even hold a candle to the human rights atrocities committed by the Democrats.

Calling yourself intellectually honest implies that I am not. Don't start flinging insults when backed into a corner. I know that's a favorite tactic of the left.
