In the spirit of bipartisan cooperation Friday, Republicans and Democrats reached lovingly across the aisle -- to give themselves a $3,100.00 pay raise. They then went immediately back to brawling like the House of Lords. Apparently, the lessons of Vietnam have been totally lost on Democrats. When we pulled out of Southeast Asia, the Commies slaughtered MILLIONS of people in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. "Boat people" will forever be a term denoting hopelessness in our lexicon. But Democrats didn't care. It wasn't their butts that were on the line. Democrats have never been big on putting their "sons and daughters in harm's way," particularly to end the suffering of people of color on the other side of the world. Although they didn't hesitate to put themselves in harm's way about 144 years ago to preserve the suffering of people of color in this country. Richard Nixon obliged the anti-war left (who were being funded by the Soviets) by pulling us out of Vietnam before the job was done, and when the last American copter lifted off the roof of the American Embassy, the slaughter began. Now, the gutless Democrats want to repeat the Vietnam disaster by pulling out of Iraq before the job is done. So, GOP leaders obliged them by putting a demand for withdrawal from Rep. John Murtha up for a vote. Heh, be careful what you wish for. The nonbinding proposition was defeated 403-3. Contrary to what the mealy-mouthed Democrats say, this was NOT a political stunt. Imagine living in Iraq and hearing all this cut-and-run rhetoric from the American left. How well do you think you'd sleep at night if you thought there were the slightest possibility that your American saviors could pull out tomorrow? This vote might give Iraqis hope that THIS time, we will stick with the job until it's done. Let the Democrats move to France if they don't like it. "A disgrace," declared House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. "The rankest of politics and the absence of any sense of shame," added Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the No. 2 House Democrat. Blah, blah, blah. Congress has gone on a two-week vacation to spend their new pay raise. I feel safer already.

What kills me is the North ALMOST lost the Civil War a couple of times hundreds of thousands dead. D-Day we lost more in the first twenty minutes than what we have now. In the Pacific Theater could have every battle called the q word-quagmire. Iwa Jima alone took us 38 days and some 30,000 troops.
NEVER once did we cut and run. We believed that we could do it if for no other reason than we are Americans and we realized we had a job to do.
I'm not as optimistic as you, Lone Ranger; I do not at all feel safe, but I'll slog through it all with grim determination-- a quality that seems to have departed the Left decades (I'm being generous) ago.
The vote over whether to pull the troops out forced the Democrats to put their money where their mouth is. They know we can't bring them home, and now the world knows what they really think, too.
It was a shrewd move by the Republicans to force them to tell it like it really is.
By the way, over at ER's blog, I took on his entire amen corner, which is considerable, arguing why taxing us to help the poor is an unwise thing to do.
But as usual, the moonbats absolutely refused to admit that I make good sense and instead called me ignorant and foolish cause I didn't agree with them.
The arrogance over there astounds me.
Arrogance in general has become ubiquitous.
Loved that opening pp, Lone Ranger ROTFL
