The Media Lied! Who Really Died?

After Katrina, the media breathlessly told us about a crime wave that included baby-raping, robbery, looting, murdering, roving gangs in the Superdome, cannibalism (I didn't believe that one for a moment) etc.. They said there were hundreds of bodies inside the Superdome and sharks swimming through the streets of the city. One man pulled up to the stadium in a refrigerated 18-wheeler, prepared to haul away up to 200 bodies. There were only a handful of dead, and of those, some had been found on the street. Where did the media get these stories? From city officials, including Mayor Nagin. Where did the city officials get the stories? I have NO idea. Just add it to the long deadly list of things they got wrong. But here's the point. The media lapped those stories up. They swallowed the rumors hook, line and sinker. Why? Why did the media run those stories without even an attempt at verifying them? First, they wanted it to be true so they could blame it on Bush. But more importantly, because the liberal media believed that the people of New Orleans were capable of such things. Because the liberal media -- including blacks --believed that poor blacks could be capable of such barbarism. Because the liberal media is racist! Liberalism is shot through with racism -- the racism of lowered expectations. White liberals have abandoned the true goals of the civil rights movement--joint participation by whites and blacks in a common American culture. Instead, liberals pander to black race hustlers. And when those black race hustlers said the blacks of New Orleans went on an insane rampage after the storm and that they did so because they are black and poor, the media sucked up every word of it. Shame. Why do I say the media lied? Well, that's the standard, isn't it? If a person is misinformed, if a person is mistaken, if the WMDs have disappeared in the 18 months that UN weapons inspectors were fooling around, that's a lie. People don't make mistakes, they tell lies. It's the liberal gold standard, so let's hold them to it.
