It Gets Worse and Worse
While liberals are blaming President Bush for everything that has gone wrong in New Orleans -- including causing the storm -- the real story is unfolding in front of everyone in terms easy enough for anyone to understand -- anyone except liberals.
First, the federal government urged Governor Blanko TWO DAYS before Katrina hit, to allow the President to federalize the National Guard so that help could be sent immediately. She refused. She did not ask for help until two days AFTER the storm hit.
Second, Mayor Nagin ordered the evacuation of New Orleans. But he did not implement the city's evacuation plan. He KNEW there were people who didn't have the means to leave the city. But more than 400 buses sat in their yards and were swamped.
And now we find out that the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army wanted to enter the city immediately after the storm with desperately needed supplies, but the STATE homeland security officials kept them out. Their reasoning? If they let the red cross and salvation army in with relief supplies, it would just make people want to stay in the city and they wanted people to leave.
And despite all this evidence of criminal incompetence on the part of state officials, the liberals blame Bush. Well, they are partially correct. FEMA was not as responsive as it could have been because it is part of that huge bureaucracy called Homeland Security. And who's fault is that? The Democrats. It was the Democrats who pushed for this monstrous mess called Homeland Security and it was the Democrats who demanded that FEMA be part of it. And because George Bush has the Bush Gene, he signed the legislation. The Bush Gene is something George Bush Sr. and Jr. seem to have. They are willing to compromise with people whose only goal is to destroy them. Every time they have reached out across the aisle, they've come back with a stump. But they keep doing it.
Frustrating.
