Follow the Leader

Where are the black leaders? In all the death and destruction and chaos in New Orleans, where are the reverend Jesse and the reverend Al? Where is this guy? Why aren't they down there leading? The very fact that they call themselves black leaders seems to indicate that blacks need leading. So where is Al reading fairytales to the kids? So where is Jesse organizing prayer meetings? So where did Randall Robinson spend last night? Certainly not with the tens of thousands of blacks who were suffering in New Orleans. Why weren't black leaders telling people what to do and where to go? Why weren't they shaking the cages of politicians to get things done? Maybe if a black leader had kicked Mayor Nagin's butt to ORGANIZE (not just order) an evacuation when it first looked like a storm was heading their way, there wouldn't be so many people still in the cities and hundreds of buses wouldn't be sitting idle in the flood. Maybe if a black leader had reminded Governor Blanco that federal aid could not be sent in until she REQUESTED it, she could have started the process two days before the storm hit and corpses would not litter the streets. At any rate I don't believe Randall Robinson. Despite their lack of hygiene, vicious thugs are awfully picky eaters and I doubt whether they'd chow down on corpses to stay alive. They'd just take candy from a baby at the point of a gun. Besides, cannibalism has become passé. I believe the last missionary was devoured in the 1950s and that was somewhere in the Pacific. We can just forget about the regrettable incidents in the late '90s during a minor ethnic war in New Guinea. African-Americans don't regard people from any other continent -- despite their skin collor -- as "black" anyway. Pity Australian Aborigines. Umm, I think I got side-tracked. But I've run out of things to say. Well, not quite. Perhaps if Randall Robinson had made his fortune with REAL jobs instead of race-baiting, he'd have a better understanding of both black and white America. And then he wouldn't go to his grave with his guts twisted up by a lifetime of hatred.
