The Silence is Deafening

Update: Wonderwoman over at A North American Patriot sent me this article. I love it when people send me stuff that I'm too lazy to find myself.
LONDON - If British Prime Minister Tony Blair had not been vacationing in the Caribbean yesterday, it seems a safe bet he would have announced to the world that Britain feels deep sympathy for its freshly wounded ally, the United States.

He might have been wrong.

In fact, to judge by the reaction of some Londoners yesterday to Katrina's rising death toll, Britons seem to feel the United States is overdrawn on sympathy. In an online discussion group set up by The Guardian newspaper, for example, one man sneered that George W. Bush will "blame global warming, or 'ecological terrorism' for this extreme weather event." Another said the disaster will be all the worse because the National Guard, which so often helps in relief operations, "is in Iraq to provide for the comfort of U.S. occupation forces."

And there was much snickering over which wing nut televangelist will attribute the devastation of New Orleans to Genesis 6:13, in which God, about to flood the sinful Earth, tells Noah: "The end of all flesh is come before me ... behold, I will destroy them with the Earth."

This deserves a long overdue blogspot, not only because of Wonderwoman's help and the quality of her site, but because I'm amazed my humble little blog attracted the attention of such a gorgeous woman. (We'll work on the atheist part later). (End update) ***** It was about this time in the aftermath of the Asian tsunami that the UN was calling us stingy and liberals were flogging Bush for not responding to the tragedy fast enough. Now liberals are still flogging Bush for not reacting fast enough (without doing anything themselves to help) and the silence from the UN and its member nations is deafening. Where is the outpouring of concern from our international "friends?" Where are the offers of money, suppies and manpower when we need it? They don't write, they don't call, would just a post card be asking too much? As usual, we stand alone. And once this is all over and we have time to look back on it, what do you want to bet that the outpouring of generosity from the red states will put the blue states to shame? Oops, that's right, liberals have no shame. I've already sent my contribution to the Red Cross. It looks like their site is being overwhelmed right now. Keep trying till you get in.
