Seeing the crowd of Michael Jackson fans react at his acquittal was repulsive. The cheering, the hugging, the hysterical sobbing -- one woman even released doves. But the following statement from the North American Man/Boy Love Association is just sickening.
Many are celebrating Michael Jackson’s acquittal on all counts of the charges against him. NAMBLA joins them in applauding this jury, which rejected the accusers’ case because it just wasn’t believable. We have never had any knowledge of Jackson’s personal life, but the sensational media focus calls for comment. In a very real sense this was a show trial hyped to distract the public from important issues. It is truly obscene, for example, that the killing and maiming of boys and girls in Iraq gets far less attention. The little bully in many of us has delighted to point a finger at someone else. What makes Michael Jackson different is that he is comfortable with himself and sees no need to hide his feelings. The hallmark of Jackson’s work is the power of love as a constructive force, even as misery still ravages our world. Here's a statement from the NAMBLA home page:
Freedom is indivisible. The liberation of children, women, boy-lovers, and homosexuals in general, can occur only as complementary facets of the same dream. -- David Thorstad
