Father, Forgive Them, for They Are French
Only in France could there be a controversy over lowering the flag to half-staff upon the death of one of the greatest men who ever lived.
PARIS (AP) - Critics complained Monday about France's decision to lower flags to half-staff to mark the death of Pope John Paul, saying the sign of mourning for a religious leader conflicts with the French principle of secularism....
"When we speak of religion in France, there shouldn't be any double standards," said the spokesman for the far-left Revolutionary Communist League, Olivier Besancenot.
Show me a Muslim who has so profoundly affected the entire world through peace and love rather than violence and hatred, and I'll begin to consider equal treatment.
It looks like the Revolutionary Communist League is still chafing over the collapse of European Communism. Some people sure can hold a grudge.
