Gutless Republicans
Terri Schiavo is probably too far gone now to save even if someone in authority had the courage to do so. Courage is what's missing from this drama. When it comes down to the final hour, Republicans don't want to get down in the gutter and get their hands dirty. Democrats live in the gutter. They aren't afraid to do what is necessary to get what they want. As usual, Ann Coulter says it better than I can.
Democrats have called out armed federal agents in order to: (1) prevent black children from attending a public school in Little Rock, Ark. (National Guard); (2) investigate an alleged violation of federal gun laws in Waco, Texas (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms); and (3) deport a small boy to Cuba (Immigration and Naturalization Service).
So how about a Republican governor sending in the National Guard to stop an innocent American woman from being starved to death in Florida? Republicans like the military. Democrats get excited about the use of military force only when it's against Americans.
At this point, there's one last act of courage that Jeb Bush could commit. Upon the death of Terri, he could order a murder investigation and the seizure of every piece of evidence, including Terri's body. So far as I can see, the moment her heart stops beating, the inhuman court orders become fulfilled. Then, law enforcement can use ever power to see if her death was justified. An autopsy would reveal everything we want to know about the condition of her brain. If it is liquefied, then Michael was right. If it isn't, he has some 'splainin' to do.
If Jeb Bush doesn't take this one final step, we will have lost the first great battle in the euthanasia war. Although we won the slavery war, it appears we are losing the abortion war. How much further into the gutter can we permit the left to drag this society?
